How many snipes do you typically set and how far ahead do you set them?

I ask this because I typically have 5-6 set and I set them with around a day or so left in the auction. I am leaving to go out of town for 4 days early Thursday and I have 113 snipes set for stuff ending while I'll be out of town, lol.

Edit to add: I set snipes as soon as I see something I want. Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see why the time between the snipe-set and the auction closing would make a difference.
In these particular auctions, however, I searched several days in advance because I am working on a project and found several things I want for it that are ending while I'll be out of town.
Lately, I have very little I'm bidding on. Not a lot listed in what I'm looking for - PSA football HOFers. I'm only watching 20 right now. And, anything I bid on I'm the under bidder! I'm 10 for 10 over the last week!

Guy IMO it only makes a difference if you are not paying for a service and have a limited amount of free snipes.
In that case I could see someone waiting until a certain time to set the snipe as the item might at that time be
more then what they were willing to pay. Either they do that or delete the snipe at that point.
When I was sniping I'd set mine as soon as I saw something, if it exceeded what I was willing to pay I'd then delete the snipe
and set my second choice (6th actually)
