I know it's early but this kid has been handling himself with style and grace this pre-season and now to start off his major league career with a 3 run homerun is something truly amazing!
Hope he has a long and great career!

I really hope they can send Bobby Cox and potentially Chipper Jones off on a good year.

Great point, Matthew. From everything I've read and heard from those close to him in Henry County, the kid is a class act. No arrogance and has handled the pressure with poise.
Always buying Bobby Cox inserts. PM me.

yes, not too many players ended up with 500 hrs from it

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
Keith McDonald (born February 8, 1973 in Yokosuka, Japan) is a former Major League Baseball catcher and right-handed batter. He made his debut with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2000.
On July 4, 2000 McDonald became only the third player in St. Louis history to hit a home run in his first major league at-bat. On July 6, he homered in his second at-bat, becoming only the second player in MLB history to hit HRs in each of his first two big league at bats. Bob Nieman, in 1951, is the other. McDonald hit a third home run that year, and is the only player in MLB history to have more than one home run in a career, but no other hits.
In his first season McDonald batted .429 (3-7), with three homers, five RBI and three runs in six games. He returned the following season as a September call-up, but went hitless in his only two at-bats.

As far as Wainwright goes, I am a Cardinals fan, and I didn't realize he hit a HR on the first pitch.
