Anyone know the record for total number of runs scored in baseball season is, league wide? I think that record will be shattered this year. Pitching is really down.

BTW, how can you be confident the record will be broken if you do not even know what it is? I'll go out on a limb and predict that it will not be broken this year.

The record for most runs scored by a major-league team during a single season is 1,212, set by the Boston Beaneaters (now the Atlanta Braves) in 1894. The modern-day record is 1,067, achieved by the New York Yankees in 1931.

OP asked "league-wide" so my guess is that the record for all of baseball happened some time after MLB expanded to 30 teams

Since 1900, the highest runs scored per game average was in 11.1 in 1930. It was 9.22 in 2009.
