Need a little advice about 86-87 Fleer Basketball

Well I have a chance to buy a complete set of NM-MT 86-87 Fleer Basketball, I dont know anything about the set and prices so I am checking on here to see if I should pull the plug. I can get the set for $700.00 the jordan I would say low ball a PSA 7 with a good possibility of a PSA 8. There are only about 3 cards in the set that I saw are off centered the rest looks great. Corners are sharp, centering is great. I would say almost all are a great chance in a PSA 8 or PSA 9 with a couple of 10's in there. But like I said I dont know if it is even worth my time, so a little help please. The guy I am thinking about buying the set from put it together back when they first came out and its comming from a good source.

If this helps, I have put together a PSA 8+ set (a few 8.5's and a few 9's mixed in) for around $800. Could have done straight 8 cheaper as I have a few star cards in 8.5. Grading fees on that would be $650...that is rock bottom. So minus the jordan, spending over $150 for a straight nmmt probably is a bit much. If your Jordan is a 7 (a $400 card), that means you are paying $300 for the rest. Jordan 8's go for around $560-$580, which knocks that down to $200 and change. You will want to make sure there are some legit 9's (and maybe 10's?) to make this worth your while. My two cents.
Good luck, and post scans if you buy!

If any of the cards have a shot at 10 it's a great price, but you're taking a huge risk in buying an ungraded Jordan if you don't know what to look for in terms of trimming, recoloring and counterfeits.

What are these 10s you speak of in 1986 Fleer basketball? I've heard about them, kind of in a mythological way. Are you saying they really can happen?

In the set im really not sure which ones are the hardest to come by, in the sense of 9's and 10's. I browsed through the set and almost all of them have great centering all the way around, and sharp corners except a couple of them. I am used to baseball, but know nothing about basketball. If someone would let me know which ones are the hard ones to come by centered wise I will go back and take a look at the specific cards. I dont like grading anything a 10 because thats always a chance and that depends on PSA if they are having a good day or bad day If you know what I mean, but chances are there are a couple of even a few 10's hopefully.

    Thanks for the replies
