The "+" on top pops......

Now that any "+" on a Top pop equates to an entire newer higher pop, will collectors now crack as many of the top pops they can find and dip them in order to obtain the "+". Is "blast" the new "+", if not, will top pops be cracked and "enhanced" to obtain the "+". PCGS wants collectors to stop messing with coins.... my guess is that, at least at the top pop level, a lot of these very hard to obtain coins will continue to be manipulated for this reason. What say you. Sorry if it has been brought up already.

I would think that the first go at a + would be a regrade just because of the possible loss that could be incurred with loss of the TOP POP grade.
Seems like your betting against long odds with a crack out.

Why not submit a top pop coin as is for the + grade? No need to dip or crack out.

dipping a nice coin is as likely to make the grade go down as up... the toning or haze often covers minor abrasions that jump out to the eye after the dip.

Agreed. Why take a risk when none is necessary?
