My MPL set and grade review question

So, all of my MPL's the 16 are PCGS graded and CAC'ed. My question is that one of my coins is a 64 BN and I really believe it to be a 65 coin... While I just want it in a 65 holder for ego alone and no other reason i.e. I am not selling or I am not a competitive registry participant. Is it better to submit the coin in the holder and ask for a grade review or to have the "stones" to crack and submit?

Thank you in advance

John

Just read the thread where 66RB submitted a 55 DDO in PCGS 63RD for review and received a 64RD designation. Later sold the coin. That is a huge uptick in price.
I believe he stated that he submitted it in the holder. Shag

    John,
The stories that the graders see the holdered coin's label and are affected by it is not the general case IMHO. I personally think it is stupid to crackout and submit a valuable coin (ie) over $500, because of that assumption. I guess that with the new secure service it will be even STUPIDER to do such a thing.

  • That was my instinct... I would prefer not to crack and submit- Just wondering what others thought?

Why does the grader get to see the slabs insert. Seems to me, a true regrade should be processed with the insert hidden.

    Michael,
I probably wrote my words incorrectly. The "stories" I referred to are NOT TRUE in my opinion. Graders do not see the labels. With secure + coming, doing a crackout and resubmit, the original grade will be evident to the finalizer anyway although the two graders will be able to regrade based on the coin.
