1875 Gold Coinage ...was it all struck "in the medal room on the proof press?"

Given the exceptionallly small mintages for the $1, 2.50, 5 and 10 dollar gold coins of 1875...the prooflike appearance, the fact that "proofs" were also struck with different dies, has it been considered that production was different?

Were the few hundred business strikes done by the Proof coiners? we know at least for the $1 that a different obverse die WAS used for the 20 proofs, and I presume similar diagnostics exist for the other denominations (havent checked..).

I look at these high def pictures of the 1875 gold dollar and there are obvious differences in the depth and clarity of the detail.....Ive looked at a LOT of these....it seems like the
quality of the striking to that degree could have only been done by the higher pressure press that was used for the striking of the proofs.

Has this situation ever been considered?
