Have you guys been checking your series' pops for "plus" coins? Any yet?

So far, not a single Lincoln cent has been certified as a "plus". I wonder how many of Stewart's coins would make the cut?

I just did an analysis of my MPL set, and here's what I think.

Of the 18 MPLs in my collection, 13 are in modern blue holders. Of those, I think 8 of them have an honest shot at the "plus" designation. Were I to bite the bullet and send them in, I would probably send all 13 in for regrade and secure plus. Cost? About $1000 shipped both ways. That said, I think having a plus would more than pay for the service fees, as a few are top pop already, and the ones that aren't sure look the part.

Will I send them in? Don't know yet. For me, it would depend on my intention to sell, which is nil at the present, and the eventual importance that the little "plus" sign plays in my series.

On the whole, I really appreciate what secure plus offers in terms of a deterrent to coin doctoring. Since the focus of my sets is on originality, knowing that the coin has been laser scanned and resides in a database is meaningful, both to me and I would imagine to a prospective buyer.
