Strike designations......

Who came up with the various strike designations on some series, such as FBL, FSB, FS........etc. And why are these the only series that have them. For instance, Morgans could have a FBF designation (Full breast feathers) Indian Heads could have a FD or FFT designation. I've never been a big fan of paying huge premiums for strike designations, especially when that same premium isn't paid in other series that have design elements missing when the coin is weakly struck.

I agree 100%. Designations are pointless and useless, IMO.
Rick Tomaska was instrumental in getting the grading services to recognize FBL Franklins. I suppose
if the experts in other series were to heavily lobby the grading services as he did, designations
    in those series are possible.
