1956 Type 1 Franklin Half

Hi Everyone
I am on the understanding that there were about 4,701,384 Franklin Halves minted in 1956 and only about 5% of them were Type 1 which is about 235,000. Of the 235,000 minted the majority of them were Proof coins. Does this mean that there was a business strike that is a type 1.
Thanks in advance
Bill

Yes, indeedy. all 4,032,000 1956 business strikes were type 1.
The only business strike type 2's in the whole series were some in 1958 and 1959.

Not that I'm trying to "plug" my auction item, but I presently have 3 of the 1956 type 1's on EBAY this week @ 99 cents, no reserve.
Here's a link to a page on my site that goes into more detail about these varieties.

70% type 2 1959 seems high to me, but I have not made a serious study of that one.
<< <i>That is a most excellent link and one I had not seen before.

70% is what Breen estimates but I think it probably is a little high. I don't remember if Bill Edwards noted a percentage in his report or not.
Thanks for the compliment Herb! I've been working on this site for the past few months now. It's slowly coming together.
