Where's the icon for "Thump Thump"?
Prolly the single finest example of mint set toning I've seen on a 56D. Why don't you think it went 67? Is there a bunch fo microchatter that doesn't show in the pic?
That is one fine looking WQ. Looking at my screen 66 seems to be a good call. Beyond the wonderful toning I see some hits that would likely keep it from 67. JMHO If you ever tire of it I might take it off your hands
This is a NGC MS66 * Star 1955-D , it is also exactly as photographed , but the NGC holders don't photograph well if you ask me .
It has chrome-like luster and I always thought it could be the first PCGS MS67 .............. I know , it's just a pipe dream , as it's got a couple hits and some hard
color lines - but if you knew what I payed for this pig ; like me , you'd silently pray it could happen too

you mean PCGS has still not graded this date MS67 yet?? i remember many years ago, perhaps back in 2002-2003, that a few of the Washington Quarter members were puzzling over who would get that grade and whether the coin would top $10K or some such mythical number. your coin is sure clean with only a few scattered marks on the devices of either side and nothing i see clearly in the fields, just a pleasant coin.
my only qualifier is that Washington Quarters are the hardest for me to grade. after several Marty 58's on coins i saw as Monsters i gave up!!

If I had it my way, stupidity would be painful!
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
I know I have never seen anything like it .
I crossed it years ago from a NGC holder.
...........I think many of us have seen "worse"
in a PCGS 67 holder

Same coin, but shot when it was raw using different lighting.
oh that one's sure a beauty too !
They rarely come with the classic '58-d toning, but some are out there. I likey!
pcgs ms66
pcgs ms66, but I felt this one should have graded ms67 (I know pcgs doesn't grade ms67 with dark toning like on the reverse)
