NGC Census Report

It seems to me that when PCGS grades a coin they have an automated process where their Population Report is immediately or almost
immediately updated.
It seems to me that when NGC grades a coin they have no process at all (automated or unautomated) to update their Census Report.
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed this? I asked NGC about a coin and they told me it could be years, yes years before it would
be in the Census Report if at all!
Is this common knowledge? Is this acceptable to the coin collector community?
Why can't NGC get it together?

I don't know the specifics of your conversation, but such an answer from NGC would not make sense, and that is not the way they do things.

Yes the answer they gave me not only didn't make sense it kind of floored me.

So how DO they do things?!?!
