Is that available in photoshop elements?

I see layering, but nothing about new background layer.

    You could try this:

Put the coin image on your computer screen and adjust the size to the way you want it. Using a black permanent marker, color the area surrounding the coin black. Using your trusty camera, take a photo of the screen, and load the new digital image into your image processing software. Voila ! Black background for your coin image.

Clean the screen with alcohol (vodka woks well) and repeat for the next coin. Simple. Easy. Fun.

(Not recommended for use with real computers.)

Is the grey a background you selected or the original image? I thought you may have already cropped out the coin.....

I used to be somebody, now I'm just a coin collector.
Recipient of the coveted "You Suck" award, April 2009 for cherrypicking a 1833 CBHD LM-5, and April 2022 for a 1835 LM-12, and again in Aug 2012 for picking off a 1952 FS-902.
  • You could also pick a copy of Adobe CS5 next month, use the "Content Aware" feature and remove any imperfection from your images very quickly. Here's the LINK with a DEMO of this feature. E-bay shopping just got much harder.
