Price guides & population reports now have + values.

Just saw that the price guides are upgraded to have the plus values.
There are already a decent # of St. Gaudens that have the + grade.

One place where I could conceivably see the '+' grade being a good thing is for condition rarity coins, particularly Morgans, where there is such a huge gap between (say) 62 and 63 that many coins that look like 63 quality are in 62 holders because these have often been graded more tightly. I'm thinking dates like '84-S, '92-S, '96-O and '01-P among others. Some of these might now qualify as 62+ where there is still a rather large gap between the value of 62 and 62+.
  • How can they be up already? Is the price guide based solely on conjecture? I thought that real data was required...

I bet in 2 to 3 years, there won't be anymore prices for + signs on the PCGS price guide.

I just can't see the sense in it.

Do you really think a dealer is going to hold out for the price of a 'plus sign' in these difficult times?

Anyways, most of these sales are 'negotiated' and price lists don't much matter.

I hope Greysheet doesn't come out with a plus sign column.

  • Interesting....I would love to hear how they came up with the + prices image
