I am not going to rush and "Big One" my entire collection. Are you?

I may eventually send in a few coins for this service, perhaps the more valuable ones. In general, I avoid collecting in areas where the PQ coin is significantly more valuable than the average. I see no reason to submit my CAC-approved coins or those in older holders.

It's like the green bean -- first, it needs to demonstrate its worth in the marketplace. Then you can make an educated "financial decision" as to whether or not paying another grading fee is likely to be a good investment.

If I understand the announcement correctly, there is a critical difference between the PCGS PQ designation and CAC in that CAC will point out coins that they believe are not high end or that have problems whereas PCGS did not state that they would point out coins that might have problems. In my opinion, all other things being equal, the CAC evaluation would be more educational for the client.

Actually, yes, I'm going to "big one" my entire collection...
most are raw and pq and cracked from conservatively graded holders and put in albums and other raw holders in the 1999-2003 time frame.
Those that are still slabbed are also, imo, pq for the grade.

This Big One is exactly what I've been waiting for!

Unless your dirty gold coins are above XF it won't make a difference.

Not for my existing coins, no, but maybe for the more dollar intensive coins I buy in the future...

Thus further relegating those coins to the garbage heap in terms of collector sentiment. Which is a shame, since I've seen some pretty nice coins in 61 holders.

i doubt I will, especially on my OGH slabs and especially the OGH slabs with copper coins. with the repeal of the copper color guarantee, I just don't want to risk my old slabs for a plus sign. Seems like the basically the same thing can be accomplished with a sticker on my slab, just without the extra registry points. it's too bad PCGS didn't figure a way to make this work without folks having to sacrifice their rattler slabs and old green holder slabs in the process.

I am actually a little pissed that there was nothing about a new slab. image

None of the new service announcements will affect my relatively cheap collections. imageimage

I will not be resubmitting for the PCGS PQ. The green bean means more to me.

I will be interested to see TDN's take on this and what Legend will do with regard to this new service, given their various relationships in the industry. The announcement was all about the high end of the hobby and 95 percent (or more) collectors are COMPLETELY unaffected the the so called "Big One".

In some ways, I agree. If it was not so painful already to submit to PCGS (delays, multiple shipping charges for multiple submissions received at the same time, etc.). The CAC turnaround is lightning fast, they give collectors information about coins that did not sticker (an educational benefit), and they will buy the coins from you.

But a + with a green bean will be worth more. image

I will not be re-submitting any coins. A PQ coin will always bring PQ money. The "Big One" is a big letdown.
  • I will be "big one"ing nothing.
