1967 Canada gold - are these a new scam?

This auction sure looks odd.... have any of you seen these before? I've seen the 1967 Centennial gold.... but the ones I've seen do not look like this.... they do not have the 'Sudbury' and other letters below the emblem. Are these gold plated chinese? or was there another issue I am not aware of? The design sure looks amateurish to me. The seller listed a couple of other completed auctions with the same type of item, and they sold for what one would expect for a gold issue. what say you?

His eBay description does say gilt brass so it is definitely not the gold coin that was produced by the mint. Probably a privately made medal. It sure is misleading.

I know these. They are a brass souvenir. It says gilt brass in the text.

Thanks... I hadn't run across these before. Unfortunately, it looks like some are purchasing these as gold. It's getting pretty treacherous out there.... buyer beware more than ever.

And of course the seller is describing it as a Centennial gold coin in the title.....

For the past ten years, people have been asking us how much gold is in the Sacagawea "golden dollar."
    I kid you not.

I agree with what has been stated above.

Here is an example of the real thing for future reference.

His $174.99 BIN is a little high for a brass medal.image
