Highest price ever for a box bottom?

This 1985 Topps Walter Payton PSA 9 box bottom sold for $406. Granted it's only one of two PSA 9s but has anyone ever seen another box bottom sell for more? The only one I think would compete is a PSA 9 1985 OPC/Topps Mario Lemieux box card (a card, if I'm not mistaken, one of the board members owns).

I was lucky enough to score a PSA 9 on an '89 Fleer (Baseball) box bottom of Sabo.
I cut it out myself, and submitted it.
Who knows what I woulda paid for it on Ebay had someone else beat me to the punch... probably not $400+, but I wouldn't have hesitated to spend $150.
Now... if someone scores that card in a PSA 10... well, let's just say I'd have to figure out how to keep the expense from the wife.
ALWAYS Looking for Chris Sabo cards!
7 years later and I am still confused? The Payton looks like its cut outside the lines and the
Sabo looks like its not but both have the 9 grade <scratching chin>

It really varies. Some have lines, some don't and some only have lines on certain sides. The key is to leave some portion of the line(s) if they are there. If there aren't any lines, then the card needs to be cut to spec (2 1/2 x 3 1/2, +/- 1/32"). There's really no way for PSA or any other TPG to put a finite standard to the cutting practice as there are so many sheet, page, panel, strip, box bottom and other cards that can be hand cut and each has varying degrees of characteristics that cannot be easily defined or generally applied to the group as a whole.
A simple rule of thumb is, if you're not sure, to find an example that has already been graded and take some clues from that...
<< <i>I've always really like the 85 topps football box bottoms. i've been looking for a decent Marino one for a while now. I think any box bottom would be tough to find in good condition. they usually have pretty bad surfaces. >>
Yeah, these are typically found with surface scratches (amongst other flaws)...gotta get a case fresh box!
Here are my '85 Mario rookies...
<< <i>Nice Lemieuxs. Are they OPC or Topps? And do you plan on cutting them? >>
Thanks RedHeart, they're both Topps. I've been planned on cutting & subbing since I bought them in 2000!
<< <i>71 Bazooka Bobby Orr ungraded sold for $1800. Looked like a PSA 1. >>
I don't doubt it. Those cards might be the hockey equivalent of the 1961 Topps Dice Game set.

There is an SGC authentic 71 Bazooka Bobby Orr in the Heritage auction right now and is already over a grand. They are estimating it to be in the $8,000 range.
Looking at the pop reports there is a PSA 7 out there. Wonder what that would bring.
