1804silver dollar - IMHO fake

Hey all! This coin belongs to my nephews' girlfriend, who inherited it from her father as part of a larger collection of coins. From what I understand; she kept this coin and sold the others for decent money. I know nothing about these coins but just by comparing the pics I've taken to the pics in my Red Book I'm quite sure it's a fake. But as the owner doesn't see "copy" stamped on it anywhere; and has evidently been offered $100 for it, she is convinced it must have some value. So without further rambling:

It looks like a poorly made fake 1804 dollar.

I had the same thought but selling a fake U.S. coin might come back to haunt you.

I think all the known specimens are present and accounted for, so it would be quite a story for another one to pop up.

Selling the counterfeit is simply offset by the person trying to rip her off by offering $100.

There comes a point where accepting much more money than one knows what an item is worth is unethical. This is past said point. Even w/o this thread.

Do you expect that the person should have offered $500,000?
