I've never heard of this card, does anyone know what this card is, how rare etc. Here is a recent auction, is this price about right? Thank you friends
if you look at the linked auction; PSA labeled that Mantle item correctly. And Kevin (or Pat or Lonn) posted the card correctly as well
The "card" is part of a set inserted into the Oklahoma Today newspaper.
When I was at Beckett; Wayne Grove brought in an uncut item from his collection that we were able to catalog.
The $699 for a PSA 8 seems to be a pretty accurate price for the TPG, etc.

Plano, Tx. Card Show #5, Sunday March 6, 2016 at Adat Chaverim (Northeast Corner Independence and Spring Creek) in Plano Tx 9Am to 4 PM. See you there!
Oklahoma Today was a magazine, not a newspaper. The "card" sheet was the back cover of the Summer, 1959, edition. As such, it is usually found scuffed and with the corner and outside edge cards dinged.
Still, you should be able to pick up a complete magazine for 500-600 in EX condition.
So I'm assuming these are so rare that prices are a mystery. I don't know what it is but these cut out panel cards are cool as heck and I always end up paying a new price just to get one.
I just looked up the Pop Report and it's amazing that only 19 of these Mantle's have been graded in total by PSA.
Arent such rare issues destined to become very valuable the older they get? Kinda reminds of the Brunner Bread issues from the early 1900's....Not widely circulated or available but the prices are high when they pop up in major auctions.
I don't think I have seen the magazine in a while. There used to be 3 or more a year for regular auctions(not buy it now or high starting bid). The card sells for more than it is really worth I think, but it is pretty rare. I guess people have cut the cards out and the full mag is harder to find now. Funny how PSA will grade those but not the '54 Sports Illustrated
How do you put a price on it and assume it's not worth more than it's sold for? I am itching to make Levi an offer on his PSA 4, but when I do the calculations the card should be in the $280 range instead of the $580 BIN he's listed.
These kinda cards like the Bazooka's are my kryptonite
I just go by what I used to see them go for. That's probably why I don't own one. PSA 4 would be good for me at $200. Anyone have one of these cards for sale for akuracy503?
According to him a BGS 8 Mantle sold for $3200....according to VCP PSA 8's sold twice in the $700 range earlier in 2010. This is why I love such rarities, it creates such crazy price fluctuations if and when they become available.
It's a cool card.
I believe Levi's pricing for his PSA 4 at $580 is reflective of the $3200 in 8 at %65 for each incremental decrease in grade.
Magazine/Newspaper cut "cards" similar to those Sports Illustrated magazine cards. The dotted line means they could be cut out, so some call them cards.
In late 1980s at many card shows you could find the complete sheets of 20 "cards" for about $25-$50 or even less. The "cards" are from 1959 and have players and former players from Oklahoma.

Rich
Newspaper premium sheet 20 cards
The whole sheet can be had for a fraction of that crazy price. If I remember right all the players were local to Oklahoma (or close by).
20-25 years ago they had little value...... sort of like Dell cutouts everyone is grading now a days
only pic I could find in a quick search

<< <i>I had the images on my photobucket for years. I have been outbidd on the full magazine a few times..went for like $600 >>
A full magazine for $600 sounds like a bargain if the card is intact and mint.
How often do you see these come up for sale? lets say through a one year span on ebay? both the card itself or the magazine with card

VERY overrated IMO.
