1943 P Jefferson Nickel Question

I recently purchased a Jefferson collection to go through and noticed that quite a number of them
have some thing going on around the bow of Jefferson's pony tail. A kind of doubling,
I was wondering if anybody studying Jefferson's knew what was causing this.
Is this one of the strike characteristics of Jefferson series?
I have noticed it on different dates and mint marks.

All the forum experts pretty much stick with posting to or starting threads with 'Drek' or 'The Big One' in the title.
Sorry, but I hate to see these coin posts sinking on page 2.

Thanks
The Big One and Dreck seem to be the topics of the day
It's all good. I'll figure it out sooner or later
Thanks for the laugh

Edit: Or my son will figure it out when all these little discs of metal are his
Jefferson's bow will be the last of my worries by then
Great pics, It appears that there is also a light to medium spread in the lettering, try matching it to one of these....here
THANK YOU,
I forgot all about that site
