Question ref. British Coin

Hi all

The 1554 date below busts Shillings are all worn, or the striking weak, why, the British Museum and the 5 owners I have spoken with and seen some exaamples are all poor examples. WHY? Can anybody give an idea, a thought +++++

I don't know--but I love British coins from that period of Edward VI to Mary! Very scarce compared to Elizabeth I reign that followed!
