Swiss Type Registry Set

Hello guys.

Haven't been around much...been in a bit of a rough patch. Nevertheless, I was browsing the PCGS registry the other day and saw that they have a Swiss type set online now. Does anyone know why it is only from half franc to 100 Franc? Kind of odd don't you think?

First off, this is a denomination set, not a type set. And secondly, not many people would drop an additional $8-10k on that '25 B just to have 100% completion.

    Set Composition
    Issue Date Weight
    1/2 Silver Franc 1.00
    1 Silver Franc 1.00
    2 Silver Francs 1.00
    5 Silver Francs 1.00
    10 Gold Francs 2.00
    20 Gold Francs 2.00
    100 Gold Francs 1925 B 5.00

For even basic type, they need to add the 1 rappen bronzes (pre and post 1948), the 2 rappens (same as the 1 rapps, except the addition WWII zink issues), two distinct types for the 5/10 rappens (billon and Cu-Ni, plus the WWI brass issues, and the WWII-era nickel issues, and for the modern guys, the post-1981 Cu-Al-Ni issues. The 20 rappens are easy; only the billon, nickel, and Cu-Ni types.

The 1/2, 1, and 2 francs should have at least the Seated Helvetia, and Standing Helv. types in each denomination, and the 5 francs have four major types for the Seated, Bust, and Wm. Tell (both large diameter and small).

    Anyone counting yet? image

OMG, PCGS doesn't have to add any for the 10 franc gold.....there's only the Vreneli type.....Yea!!! Good job!!!! image

And lastly, the 20 franc should have two types; the Helvetia Bust design and the Vreneli.

NOW, the real Swiss Type Set would be a nice assemblage of coins......holding.breath.turning.blue!!! image

P.S. then there's the 1850/51 Paris Mint issues which form a separate, distinct set type, but let's not be greedy........image

Good thing you included a lot of smiley faces. Otherwise, your reply might have been construed as being just a little bit pissy. image

I don't understand this thing above. What are the 1.00 and 2.00 next to the denominations?

Man, a date set of half, one and two francs, would be the longests world coin sets ever, even if they separate the Seated Helvetia to a different category, or if silver only is elligible. What a boring set it would be.

If Swiss coins are one's main collection, the 100 francs gold is an essential coin, and the holy grail of Confederate Switzerland. There are several certified examples already existing.

Just a guess, but maybe it's the PCGS weighting factor for the Registry Set.

it is the weighting factor for the particular coin (the higher the value, the 'scarcer' the coin).
