How long to wait before making a 2nd chance offer?

I sold a card on 3/11 for $178 - had plenty of bidders. Guy emails 2 days later says xferring funds to paypal, ready by 3/16. No payment, email him, emails back transfer done 3/15, be ready in few days. Today is the 19th, hasn't responded to last email.

I know 1 week is not even close to being slow compared with some stories I've read on here, but I'm just beginning to wonder about this person and wanted to know what the earliest you would offer 2nd chance to next bidder(s).

I'm always a little leary when I get a 2nd chance offer 2 - 3 weeks after I lost out on an item. I start thinking that original buyer paid and received item, but returned it because they weren't happy with it. If they weren't happy, then maybe I wouldn't be either.

Am I thinking about this too much???? Thanks for any input/counseling offered, Tom

I have two cards currently that sold on Ebay but the buyers haven't paid. The first was for $372. I waited 10 days (and several e-mails with no response) I filed a non payment claim. Same with the other card. If they are communicating to you, I guess you have to go with your gut to determine if they are really going to pay. My feeling is that if you won an item and haven't paid in 10 days, you are not going to pay on day 11 either.

    thanks
  • I know what you mean about thinking about it too much. Couple times I've had a buyer back out right after they've won. I waited a few days to 2nd chance so it didn't look like I was shilling.

I'd go now..........................his loss! You shouldn't be held hostage because of his ineptness.

I hate it when you accept a lower price for your card through BIN/OBO and they take forever to pay.

I agree, that will have been 10 days and that should be plenty of time...Donato

This is why I love it when I sell something with a Buy It Now because I have it set up with instant PayPal payment. The BS that goes along with waiting to get paid and all the excuses is the annoying part.
