I don't see any listings for 1994-1999. I think the correct pricing model for those dark years is
1. Take $1 2. Subtract that dollar 3. Price accordingly

Yeah the SMR isn't Beckett. 1996 graded cards have either no real secondary market or its so low that they just choose to ignore it. The SMR focuses on more heavily traded issues and cards in those sets.
Currently completing the following registry sets: Cardinal HOF's, 1961 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, 1972 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, 1980 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, Bill Mazeroski Master & Basic Sets, Roberto Clemente Master & Basic Sets, Willie Stargell Master & Basic Sets and Terry Bradshaw Basic Set
Are you trying to tell me that my partial set of 96's that are all graded 10 by the GRC company aren't worth that much?
From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo. ~WalterSobchak
Buying: Topps White Out (silver) letters Alex Gordon 80 Topps Greg Pryor “No Name" 90 ProSet Dexter Manley error 90 Topps Jeff King Yellow back 1958 Topps Pancho Herrera (no“a”) 81 Topps Art Howe (black smear above hat) 91 D A. Hawkins BC-12 “Pitcher”
OK, is it just me or do some of you actually USE some of your useless slabs as coasters too??

Kidding aside- To find a estimated value, look at completed/current ebay auctions for other players in that set when/if they pop up and adjust based on the players popularity. I see one Helton raw on ebay for a buck so I'd assume $20 would be a price I'd be happy to get, if I could.
SMR or VCP is not much use in most modern PSA 10's as the price will change so much depending on pop and how many collectors there are for that issue. (Or at least I don't think it is).
There are just too many times I have seen a 80s plus card go for $5 one day and $20 the next.
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards. Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

I think this is probably the best model. Unfortunately, similar to many of the card investments made in the 90s where regardless of amount invested, your selling value today is somewhere less than $1, there are probably a ton of submissions to PSA, 1990 or later, that will not get you your submission money back even when you get exactly what you're hoping for. The thrill of getting a PSA 10 back probably pushes a lot of people to submit cards that have trouble fetching $5 on eBay in a PSA 10. So you spend 5-10 dollars to see what you get. You don't get your 10 and you're bummed. Your card is worth very little. You do get your 10, you're happy. Victory. You succeeded. But you paid some money for that affirmation. Your card wouldn't sell for what you paid someone to tell you how nice it was. If you really don't like that graded card and plan to keep it, it wasn't such a good business move. Definitely a ton of examples of that in a recent ocsi auction. They listed like 10,000 cards and a majority of a ton of them were PSA 10s. I ended up getting like 27 PSA 10s for $80. And I really like them. But makes you think. Maybe it didn't make sense to submit them.
