CCCOTY-Ajaan Coin Award

In addition to Hussalo's COTY,
I'll propose a Colorful Canadian Coin of The Year competition-the contest will last a short time, say until Sunday evening.

The winner will win the congratulations of his peer group and the ability to establish a strong provenance
for his coin as the Ajaan Coin, due to his love of the Greyside.

These coins must be under $100 to qualify (which should allow almost anyone to compete)
and will be voted on by forum members-cast your vote to this thread.

I will enter this coin I got from Olmanjon (who has an amazing collection)!

I've seen a ton of Canadian color over the years-I know it's out there.

I'd like to see some handsome copper too...image

Not under $100, so ineligible, but I love the mahogany color of this coin.

It's a thread where even pennies can win!image

I know there's a Lynx and a fish and a sailing boat with great colors-I'd love to see them.

You can post multiple examples-there's no limit on entries.

That's a special blue goose Savoy! The last three Canadian dollars I purchased of this type all had to go back
    as they were very hairlined.image
Boz has a very nice one too...

Ajaan pedigree: bought long ago in its original box from an ajaan listing at $7 in our beloved weekly BST thread and imaged by coinpictures.

Disclosure: Not a coin purchased during the last 12 months.

  • What is it with Canadian coins and toning, is there more sulphur in the air there or something? We barely see any that are 'clean'.image

Oh give me that Canadian color-
    show me those sunset hues.
    Don't show me white-
    it ain't all right,
    I want those Canadian blues...

    I've seen colors from Cyprus
    and Denmark and France-
shades from all over the world.

    But Canadian toning
    makes my eyeballs dance,
like a flag that is rapidly twirled.image

If it's close in price, enter it. If you own it, enter it-no restrictions on when, only that you still do.image

    All Canadian Provinces/Territories count!!!!!

Thanks Laurent, but it's twice the price limit (that ajaan guy!) and I don't own it, I sold it to a member who sold it too in his turn. Seriously though, it was definetely worth its price, because it's not the usual Canadian colorful coin from the 1960s. If the right bidders had seen it, it could have gone upto twice what I paid I think. I do own the 71 dollar though.

I'll be out of town for the weekend. It would be my hope to see additional entries
posted to this thread by Sunday night.

I've seen a ton of colorful canadian coins posted over the years that could
easily qualify and some obvious members (like canadacolornut) have not posted
so I'm thinking this should stay open longer maybe?

Let me know what you think...

The missing images are from Photobucket. Can't seem to get them to show up.

Are you using the link code or the IMG code which would be right at the bottom of the selected photo?

All you have to do is copy the IMG code and paste directly into this message box. Sorry if I'm being redundent.image

Do I nominate or do others nominate and do we use a poll to establish a winner?
