How many teams legitimately have a shot to win the NCAA Tourney?

RonBurgundyRonBurgundy Posts: 5,491 ✭✭✭
This is how I break down my bracket each year. I look at who can get to the Final Four, then who has a realistic chance to win it. If some sleeper like George Mason blows it up, so be it.

These are my lists this year:

Can make the Final Four: Kansas, Georgetown, Ohio State, Syracuse, Kansas State, Kentucky, West Virginia, Duke, and Villanova

Can win it all: Kansas, Syracuse, Kentucky, West Virginia, Duke, and Villanova.

I'm an Ohio State fan but don't think they have the depth to reach the final four. I saw Georgetown a few times this year on tv and they looked good. But so did Kansas. al.

The odds are in their favor (2 seed) of going to the Elite Eight against Kansas, and anything can happen on any given day, so don't give up so easily. In fact, we won our last championship as a 2 seed.

Though I'd rather we get Kansas in the championship game though...

4th time mercury nut has posted that dumb sleeping icon.

Whoops, clicked on mercury's link to his registry Franklin set and quickly fell asleep.
Merc, you couldn't have picked a more boring set to collect. Franklins?

Down to Syracuse, KY, WV and Duke according to you who can win it all. If I had the choice between those 4 and the field I think I would take the field. I guess we shall see.

I should have added K State. They are shockingly quick at the guard spot.

I still don't think Ohio State can win it all, but we will see.

I am revising my Final Four prediction to: Northern Iowa, Butler, Cornell, and St. Mary's. image

Going into last thursday's games 64 teams had a legitimate shot at winning [some teams had shots that were more legitimate than the shots held by other teams].

Going into today's games 16 teams have a legitmate shot; and after the last game played this sunday only four teams will have a legitimate shot [hopefully three of the four will be Northern Iowa, Cornell and St. Mary'simage]; and so on until Monday evening 4-5-2010 when only one team will be cutting down the nets.

Down to KY, WV or Duke who "can win it all." Of that group I like KY. We shall see....
