Members all and dear I am sure we can all accept in one form or another that medallions were producd for the collectors and people and were a momento of a specific period in time.

Hus started an interesting competition on coins - I would like to see the medallions and which stimulate you aquire peices of ART and HISTORY today

K-302 HITLER PUTSCH IN MUNICH, 1923, Cast bronze, Satirical medal, 58.0mm, 67.00g., Edge-punched, "KGoeTz".

The first medal made with Hitler as subject matter.

The thing I appreciate about the Karl Goetz medal is that it is an accurate reflection of his opin of Hitler, notice the name is mispelled, the swastika is backwards and the fools dancing around in the beer hall like fools. When you contrast it to his later works, some of which Hitler most definitely did not approve of, that had to be "cleaned up" to suit the master - you can thence realise that his artistic talents and freedom were being repressed later in his working career.

Gregory XVI commissioned this medal to commemorate the completion of the Catilus Tunnel in 1836.
Engraved by Giuseppe Cerbara, the medal is thick enough (8mm) to allow high relief and realistic perspective.

Try to find one of these in the original box with the paperwork, a complete pain. Until I got this one a couple of years ago had never seen the paperwork included with the medal.
