Is the 1981 Topps Traded Danny Ainge's rookie card?? And which card would you have him sign?

Is there a regular Topps 1981 issue Danny Ainge card, or is the 1981 Topps Traded his first Topps card??

If you had my signed rookie card collection and were looking to add an Ainge, would you get his 81 baseball rookie (either regular or traded) or his 86 Fleer basketball card signed?? (I don't care too much for the Star basketball cards so they are not an option for me, and I don't want his Donruss or Fleer baseball either)

Thanks for your assistance with question 1 and for your opinion on the others.

Personally I'm leaning toward the Topps Traded as I think it's a cool looking card, but I could be persuaded.

Be careful, from what I understand, he's sketchy about his baseball years cards. Can't remember where I heard that.

Heard that too. Don't think he will sign his 81 TT rookie.

In that case, I gotta try it image but I guess I'll get one of his Fleer basketball rookies too in case he won't sign the baseball one.

I think Donruss is the actual RC. Topps is considered an XRC.

  • Maybe he is trying to forget his largely forgetable baseball career. I would do the '81 Fleer.

You gotta be kidding me. What could possibly be the reason for that?

FYI he also has a 1982 Fleer.

Danny's major league baseball career may not have been spectacular but he played in 211 games and that is 211 more games than most guys could ever dream about- including MICHAEL JORDAN.
  • I spoke with one of his Blue Jay teammates earlier this year and they said he had no business being in the Majors and was there more for publicity than anything else.

I wouldn't argue with that. His stats were terrible.

  • I know it's cheesy and not his rookie, but this incorporates the baseball design with basketball.
