Question on Silver Chinese Panda's

There are several dates between 1989 - 2000 that have both Large and Small Date Varieties.
I can provide a list if needed.
Does anyone know which type is considered rarer each date?
Thanks, GrandAm

Hey GRANDAM,
One question, Please define rarity as per this discussion.
1-The lowest published mintages or,
2-The hardest to find.
For example the 1996 Silver Proof has a lower mintages than say either the 94 or 95 but, is
more easily attainable at a lower price.
If it's attainability some of these dates are so close that the rarity changes dependent to what becomes available to the market.
For example: the 1990 small date at times brought a premium over the large date. When the small dates were pursued and dried up the large date had a higher premium.
The following is my experience in putting together two complete Silver Panda sets
That being said...
1990 about the same
1991-Large date
1992- Large date
1993-small date
1994-small edge to the large date
1995-This is a clear winner to the small twig small date- I had a tough time getting that one
1996- about the same,
1997-about the same
1998-about the same
1999-see the previous post. I was told recently that the straight leg version has recently brought a higher premium over the serif1 but this has not been my experience.
2000-Mirror version though some have come available to the market in the last year. This brought $1500 at one time on ebay.
My own experience shows generally the Large Dates are harder to find with the exception of the 1994 the small date has eluded me.
I started collecting them in 2004/05. They were very plentiful at that time as a bullion coin with bullion prices,
Now, even on ebay they have become scarce. I guess that due to limited mintages and the popularity of the series even some of the more common ones
are no longer common.
Are you looking for an already graded 94? It will be harder to find in PCGS than NGC. It's my observation that there is a much larger inventory pool from NGC.
If you are looking to buy raw, I have a couple of reputable Chinese sellers that I can recommend.
There are 2 that I have purchased many Pandas from in the past and would have no hesitation
buying from them again.
As you most likely already know, you need to be wary of many/most of the Chinese sellers.

I have no experience with this seller. I believe the Panda to be real based on the pattern of the plastic seal.
You may be able to buy 2 to 3 raw ones for the price of a PCGS graded 69. The majority of these grade out 69 with NGC.
I don't know about PCGS.
I have actually done business with both the sellers referenced with no problems.
