QT, PCGS has been bagging toned coins like there is no tomorrow.
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

Is it my imagination or are there way more genuine holders than there was ever bodybags?

Maybe folks are sharing more? Or..........maybe things have gotten tighter because of the availability of the genuine slabs?
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

BTW, this one of three coins in that submission. The other two were a 1915 2.5 Indian that graded XF45 and a 1888-S Morgan that came back AU55 (I wanted both slabbed for authenticity, at the very least). Not bad - but the the result with 1812 half was a surprise. This is only my tenth submission (or there abouts) with only one Genuine and no BBs. Again, not much to complain about in those #s.

Is that a staple scratch in front of Liberty's Eyes and Forehead?

I think you're looking at a clash. I do not see any scratches on her.

Those scratches are pretty visible almost like they might of been graffiti that had been worked on.
I am mean the ones on the reverse.
  • The dark stuff in front of the cap could be PVC damage??

I wonder if the black discoloration is due to PVC removal at one time. Good thought.

    << <i>97 environmental damage? >>

That would be my guess too.
I collect Capped Bust series by variety in PCGS AU/MS grades.

I think it's still an attractive coin, grade or no grade.

I agree - it is (and will continue to be) the 1812 Capped Bust half in my collection. At the very least I could crack it out and put it back in the 7070. But, I'm not inclined to do that - the slab stored in an Intercept Shield box makes for a reasonably safe long-term storage plan.
