Super neat cracks on that 110a Nysoto. Just SUPER neat. I love the contrasts displayed between, and on either side of the cracks. I doubt that this would show so dramatically on an MS specimen (said in my defense of circulated coins).
I rank this one on up there right behind JR's avatar coin.
Nysoto, there is something about a series like yours that gives me goosebumps all over. That '06 104b is just too sweet, right up my alley. I evidently got into this coin collecting thing way too late, I never see anything for sale like I am seeing on this thread. When do you think that I might see one of those '95 106s up for auction? I'm 29, and I doubt I'll see one in my lifetime. I'll probably never even see another 'picture' of one. I appreciate very much your showing it. It really 'is' to die for.
No, those eye catchers that slumlord has been throwing up here have not gone unnoticed by me either. All I can do is sit and sigh.
There have been coins with great character, coins in tall stacks, coins of the highest quality (nice one Tortuga), coins like mine (that only the owner could love), this thread has it all. Depressing yet exhilarating at the same time.
“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly."
What beautiful color on the reverse of your 1807 DUIGUY. Looks almost like a painting.
I don't know how I missed that 1807 of yours before jdillane. I never knew that the eagle had feathers between the scroll and the shield, and the detail on the wing feathers is spectacular.
Here is an 1807 O-106 This is the third use of this obverse die (man those early mint guys were frugal...) which shows as a dramatic difference between the obverse and reverse strike characteristics.
