Can anyone ID this so I can verify its weight?

Depending on its size, the design matches
KM#819, a half sovereign weighing 3.994g
KM#820, a sovereign weighing 7.9881g
KM#821, a £2 weighing 15.9761g
KM#822, £5 weighing 38.9403g
The problem is, none of those gold coins were minted with a 1927 date according to Krause, although George V was the King that year.

It's a 1927SA sovereign (£1) from the Pretoria mint. The SA on the ground line is for South Africa. It's worth bullion in that grade.

It doesn't look right even for a Pretoria minted coin, the design details are too soft and these pieces have been counterfeited in the Middle East for a long time.

I'm trying to find it in the 2004 Standard Catalog of World Coins with no luck.
It weighs 8.0 g
Edit: it is struck in medal rotation.
Bottom line: Gold/ Counterfeit?

That coin is a counterfeit, probably made in the middle east pre-WWII.
