Looks like a british soverign. These have been very heavily counterfeited. This looks to be one of them---weak and incomplete rims, raised metal in the fields, etc. Most of these counterfeits do have the full weight of gold.

British sovereign. Should be 7.98 grams.
FWIW, it looks counterfeit, though many counterfeits are made of good gold.

Agree. That looks totally fake. But there is a reasonable chance it's made from good gold. Weight should be approximately 7.988 grams (.2568 tr oz), of which .2354 tr oz is actual gold weight.

  • It weighs exactly 8.0g with a medal rotation. The shop said it was 22 ct I bought it as bullion for $260 so if it does contain close to a 1/4 oz fine I'm ok.

So now the question is what will you do with it?

Send it to a refiner to get your money out of it or pawn it off on an unsuspecting newbie. It's still good gold.
