Holy Early 90s!!! What's good (if anything)?

I was inspecting a house tonight and got to talking with the guy, older fellow who collects cards. He was taking 75 lbs of early 90s stuff to Goodwill and before I knew it, the box was in my car.

I'll look through it for fun when I get a chance, but I need the board's help: is there anything I should be looking for and putting aside? I know this sounds like it should be in the BST forum, but I'm not looking to make money, only to pay it forward so to speak if anybody here or anybody here's kid might be collecting rare 90/91/92 Donruss/Score/Ultra/Minors team sets, cousins who had a cup of coffee, certain guys with funny names, anything like that.

Let me know what your fetishes are and I guarantee you that we can make a deal. I don't know what I've got here, only that there's 75 lbs of it and most of this probably wouldn't sell at a flea market for a dollar a pound.

    Try this link:

    Worthless Set Collectors Club

You probably won't make any money, but you could help your fellow board members out.

Or try subbing the RC's and pray for 10's...

I would be interested in hearing what "Minors team sets" you have (if you are referring to Minor League Baseball).
I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.

1991-92 Donruss Elites, likely already pulled from your lot. Score had some Mantle autos in 1992? I believe. Some decent RC's at about .50 to $1 each like Chipper Jones, Frank Thomas, Sosa, etc. Just not much there.
Kiss me once, shame on you.

Additionally, many of the insert sets have retained some value. There are some dedicated player and insert collectors that jump all over the tough stuff from the 90s.

A lady who I worked with did the same with a bunch of stuff from the late 80's, early 90's. She had pulled anything worth anything and was trying to sell the rest....at book no less.....I advised her to give to a good charity and she ended up giving to Goodwill also....at least someone got some enjoyment going thru some older cards.

I like busting packs of '91 Topps. My favorite of the overproduced '90s junk.
  • I just decided to collect Sparky Anderson and Tommy Lasorda (Playing Days through their managing years, nothing newer).
Anyone with a hoard of them PM me with how many you have and a shipping price.
  • Thanks for the replies. If we get as much rain as they say we're going to get, I'll have answers for all of you soon...

I'd say I sound like a broken record but people would ask "what is a record".

    So.................."I sound like a malfunctioning Ipod ™ "

So much truth in that statement. image
  • Duly noted. I'm a proud Socialist Democrat, so while I'd be happy to "spread the wealth" to all of the non-aligned board members, I find myself compelled to charge Mr Republican full book for any cards he might want.

(Of course, I will accept payment in Enron stock, so your actual out of pocket really won't be that much...)
