The feds decided to respect the sabbath by closing this one down tonight (Thursday).

Regulators shut New York's LibertyPointe Bank, the 27th banking failure of 2010 and the first to go down in the nation's financial capital since the start of the recent crisis.
Headquartered in Lower Manhattan, LibertyPointe had three branches, $209.5 million in deposits and $209.7 million in assets.

The bank's founder was Shaya Boymelgreen, a prominent New York developer of apartment and condo buildings hit hard by the recent real-estate crash. His bank served the Orthodox Jewish community, and regulators decided on a rare Thursday-night seizure in deference to the religious customs of the bank's employees.

How considerate of those regulators, going out of their way to shut down a bank early. And I always thought they were so tough.
