Need help please on Thaler...

AUandAGAUandAG Posts: 24,929 ✭✭✭✭✭
Just received this one and have identified the following:
Obverse Type III, rounded pearls in diadem.
Reverse Type C
Signature: #2, S.F.
Saltire type E

Uncirculated but that's as far as I get. Also has the two periods on 3rd edge.
Can you help with date and mint and value? Pics in two different light set ups. Same coin.
thanks,
bob

Date is sometime post-WWII, value is melt value or a slight premium.

This site has a lot of info on the different restrikes, but it's just not very clear on describing the more modern ones.. I still can't decipher the differences with the info on that site. But yours is definitely a more modern striking.

Great coins full of history! This is one I forgot about in the thread about modern copies... even though most examples out there are more recent strikings intended for collectors rather than trade, I still consider them a must have for any collection.

    Thanks spoon,

I found that site and got what I could but just was unsure of myself. Modern is okay by me.
Nice looking coin. Love the 3rd side lettering. Bought it off the bay for $16.25 delivered.
