Nope, that is a picture of the real thing.

That seller is so lucky to have found the Queller example at a yard sale. And not just once, but twice found the same example and sold it twice in two days. (Check out their sold listings.) Though he keeps selling it for less than the $3,737,500.00 it brought at auction.

Completely unrelated is that this picture is found on the 1st page of Google images in an 1804 dollar search and originates from here: 1804 Queller pics and info at pacificrarities.com

They also keep finding 1797 and other 1804 dollars plus other goodies at yard sales.

"BID AT OWN RISK!!!!!!!!!!!" and "No Returns Accepted" so nothing fishy here. Wow those buyers are going to make a lot of money, maybe I better join 'em. Except they would be doing well if there was any silver at all in what they get.

About all that's real about the auction is the stolen photo. Some folks never learn...

Actually it looks like the Mickley-Hawn-Queller 1804 Original PR62 NGC that Heritage sold a while back for $3.7375 million or so.

The one he has up now is >$15K. I just emailed and asked if he would cancel the auction and sell to me for $25K, adding that the coin pictured is almost certainly authentic....

As has already been pointed out, the image is of a genuine example. But the seller certainly doesn't have the coin. He also has a counterfeit Bust Dollar listed for sale and has sold counterfeits in the past, as well.

And there is a good chance the buyer was someone who knows it is a scam and wants to make sure someone doesn't get taken. In fact, two good Samaritan bidders may have driven the price up bidding against each other--which isn't really a problem since they don't plan to pay. --Jerry

Not the first time he sold the 1797:

Booting a seller like this should be a no-brainer.

I agree, and it doesn't happen nearly as often as it should.
