Even more recently, I found another interesting one in a bulk lot, just a couple days ago. It was from a country I hadn't had previously. I'm not an OFEC (one-from-each-country) collector, but I set it aside in case somebody else was interested in it. What was that one? Hmm... oh, yeah. It was St. Pierre & Miquelon.

And, good news for anyone with the colonial aluminum.. gmarguli was able to extract crazy money for these recently:
1958 MADAGASCAR FRANC PCGS MS66 -- $37.67
1948 MADAGASCAR 2 FRANCS PCGS MS65 -- $76.01
My wantlist & references

I bought the 2 Franc. I know I overpaid for a nice example of a very common inexpensive coin, but it will go well with my 1 Franc. I like buying from Greg ... he's got a good eye.

And if you want to go really crazy, go for their essais and essai/pieforts those go for pretty change sometimes too. Airplanenut sold a bunch of those awhile back too.
For St. Pierre/Miquelon you can basically do the whole country in 6 coins-- regular issue, essai and essai/piefort. I think the only one I still need (excuse me, "need") is the 2 Franc essai. Then I will have completed and entire country set
I love those mid-20th century French colonial types, though I'm never sure exactly what to call them. Nice, if not gem, ones can be pretty cheap, fun to look for, and the designs are pretty cool. I have a bunch in my box at home.
As for the recent ebay ones, yup, gmarguli gets good prices on these--trust me, I should know--but he finds such SWEET ones! Anyway, I may or may not
Nice post of a cool set of coins!
