The most recent ebay sale for a skelton finger was $4.61
that's why I'm sitting on mine.....figuring a box containing these might have six or seven only, and they were only found in the 4/23 boxes produced between approx. 9am and 2pm, I think these will be the prime
error and will be the number one valued error of them all....jmho
....and in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make....
Well actually, searching under CDDR-009, Skeleton Finger, or a broader Extra Finger, the CDDR-009 on Ebay in the last couple of weeks have a few auctions from $5 to $37. Recently on Teletrade an ANACS MS-67 (top pop) sold for $60. So there is a value to these but right now without a guide book helping to establish credibility as well as a growing collector base, prices will be all over the place. I have opened up many boxes dated 4/23 and find between 0-9 examples of the CDDR-009 and have not found one in any other dated box. If say on average there are 6 to a box then the bigger question would be how many boxes were produced on 4/23 during a specific time period too? I know that in later PM boxes on 4/23 I have found 0. There were 300,000 boxes sold from the Mint but dates run from early April to late June at least and many different days between that range. Don't forget that the CDDR-009 die failed early too and likely why it is not found in later boxes.
can i ask what the number was on the side 9883 or 9774? there is a listing for those numbers between those hrs you have said one more box lol nothing in the mail today guess they'll all show up monday
....i might get interested if and when they appear in the CPG.
"government is not reason, it is not eloquence-it is a force! like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master; never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action." George Washington
I have found that number 9883 or 9774 does not make a difference. Also, when you are looking through these boxes, just don't focus on what is going on in the finger area as there are quite a few interesting die cracks, clashes, and cuds found on these cents! Specifically, the 4/23 boxes have a small blob (cud) on the large E in Cent on the obverse. I separate all of those and have filled up a tube or two. Also the 4/23 boxes have a few of a minor DDR that I have yet taken the time to classify but separate them out into tubes. I personally think it is very minor, but it's not hard to separate those out and keep track of them so I do it. So be sure to have fun searching through these and I know that I have learned quite a bit regarding double die varieties and various cuds, clashes, and planchet errors along the way!
well what the heck i got one of each lol the time was 10;44 and 10:08 guess will wait and see and will keep my eyes out for other varietys thks everyone for all the info i know i will have fun searching thru them all and will come back and let you all know what i find have a great weekend everyone.................. OK the seller let me change the one to 10;44 lol thats my last box for that date and now will just wait till next week. thks again to all

wooohooo candy store opened ok i got one set from 4/15 and one from 4/27 have to finish up my box from the bank rolls and than will start the search i take it most of the errors were found in the p rolls? thanks again to all be back later today ..........
Yes, I do not believe that any DDR varieties were found in the D rolls for the U.S Mint two roll boxes but could be wrong. I am sure though that there are many people that didn't open up and go through the D rolls and focused solely on the P's. I know that I opened up many of the D rolls in the 4/23 boxes and found many cents that looked like they had a satin finish. Some were shiny, and many were dull and satiny. However, it turns out that they have what is called an orange peel effect from worn out dies. So you still never know what you can find, expecially with die cracks, cuds, etc. Good luck with your search!
ok i just went to leave feedback on the two items from the same dealer both my ads show that i was buying boxes from 4/27 and he sent me 1 4/27 and 1 4/15. i sent the seller a note asking why the switch and was wondering does it really matter? as i have seen on here it seems like the 4/17 date and the 4/23 dates were the boxes to look for. so is it worth the hassle of trying to get him to switch it or accept it and open the box lol
Hi Tommy, There is nothing in the 4/15 box. Do not accept them. Contact seller and ask for your money back, Sounds like the seller is sleazy. I will sell you 2 boxes of unopened 17's and 2 boxes of 23' if you want them. just P.M. me and we will work out the details. Steve
thks for the info steve sent you a pm contacted the seller and he said he had different days and that it doesn't matter lol i calmly explained to him that it Does matter and he has changed all his other listings to not include the 4/27 since i would have to pay to send them back and i did get them for 20 bucks with shipping i will just give them to my nephews for presents lol thks to everyone for all the info i am not trying to make a bunch of money i just want to own a couple of these pieces and being able to go thru the boxes that May have a better chance to find. thks to all : }
thks to steve and michael for helping me out got 2 boxes of the 17th and 2 boxes of the 23 and plan to open them up today so will be back with a report. wooohoooo the candy store is open : }
ok open the first box of 4/23 p roll nothing : { lol second box p roll woohooooo found seven skeltons those are really cool when you get to see them up close just like a skeltons fingers.... taking a break will do the next 2 boxes from 4/17 and report that was soooo cool finding those lol again thks everyone who posted : }
Good for you! Yes, that is the thing with these varieties. Even if you open a box that may be a "good" one based on it's date/time there is often ZERO errors in them. It can be hit or miss and helping to demonstrate that specific varieties are not all over the place but in select quantities. The Skeleton Finger variety is a prime example of this and in my opinion, much more limited than currently realized. So 300,000 set boxes of LP2 were produced. I have tallied that they were made over at least 30 separate days (by tracking date stamps) so it would be interesting to know how many boxes the Mint produced in a day? Doing rough math, 300,000 spread out over 30+ days is 10,000 boxes a day (making the assumption that equal quantities of boxes were produced over that time period.) Since The Big Three were found only in a few early box dates, WITH some time stamps during those days NONE found, The Big Three are far from huge quantities produced IMHO and really quite limited.
<< <i>Just try and find a WDDR 001 or a skeleton finger on ebay at this point or for that fact a roll of 4/17's. They don't exist. >>
no doubt these will be impossible to find, woohooo 1st roll 4/17 half roll and found two 2009 FY DDR-002 and it looks like 1 of the 001 , the oo2 is plain to see really better than the leaf on the wisconsin. these will get graded by the big boys sooner or later i am betting theres way under 40,000 and the top 3 are so easy to see. thanks for the tips and the chance to find my own little piece of this truly error coin woohooo back to the search lol
I am glad I was able to help you out Tommy. As I say there are not as many of these things as people think. We here on the forum have the bulk of them.
Today I opened up a 4/28 & and a 4/29 Box which should have a few cddr-001 & cddr-002s. Well I only found 2 cdd-001 (Double Thumb) in the 4/28 box and no cddr-002s in any of the boxes. There were no errors in the 4/29 box. Point being is that finding The Big Three is by no means like "shooting fish in a barrel". I know what dates/times are promising and struck out on the cddr-002 (Sixth Finger).
<< <i>I have opened a lot of boxes in the past week and have not come up with many good coins at all. >>
well ended up with 8 skeltons out of those 2 23rd boxes and went thru 1 of the 17th and picked up 8 extra thumbs and only 3 extra finger it was still sooo cool to have the chance to actually find them in boxes. going to hang on to the other boxes. Thanks again to everyone who helped me, i really am glad that i found this forum as i have gained so much more information than the old site i was hanging on................
opened an extra box coming from the mint on the 29th and found zero. so it looks like those two dates are the most popular for those 3 errors. havent seen any boxes on ebay for the 17th and only a couple for the 23rd.............. thks everyone for the help in the search
I posted recently on another thread that I opened up a box dated 4/29 and found eight 001's, nine 002's, four 003's. eight wddo-010's (catfish abe), and ten bookmark w/die crack at boots. so sometimes you get lucky
....and in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make....

A few days ago there was an Ebay sale of all 4 box types (LP1-4) unopened that went for $81. I couldn't bring myself to buy anymore......the date on the LP2 was the 17th
I sold a roll with a CDDR-002 on the outside for $100 a week after the discovery. I happen to find about 80 CDDR-001 and about 50 CDDR-002. I sold many right after discovery and made a lot of money, about $600 on my 5 rolls of the P coins. Im glad I got rid of them early. I kept a few just in case.

i saw that auction too seems like there are a few selling all 4 boxes and they know the 17th was a good date to put with the rest. But no single boxes with that date, where did you send them in to get graded?
Go to ANACS.com. It does not cost anything for a membership. I still have 15 of the WDDR 001's and 15 of the WDDR 002's in MS 67 which is the top pop for these coins.
I believe at ANACS it is $15 to get a coin graded and attribution on the holder if you provide the variety already. But I would rather wait for a day when PCGS may start noting the variety.
ANACS does a good job on them and who knows when of if PCGS will grade them.
I was very happy with mine, I did get some nice looking coins to send off to them though.
Everyone that bought the MS 66 and 67's that I sold was very happy with them.
The price es very reasonable at ANACS. so, you will not be out a lot of money for grading. If PCGS does start grading you can send your best ones in to be regraded by PCGS .
does anyone remember seeing a triple holder i swear i have seen the wisconsin quarters high and low leaf with a regular one ? would love to get the 001 and 002 and 009 put together in one holder. i think i will send one set in and wait and see if pcgs starts doing them. so 67 is the top pops who gonna find the first 68?search continues lol

All US Mint boxes containing rolls since as long as I can remember, before 2005, have lots of printing on them. They are on one end. They have the US Mint item number, date, time packaged, and Lot number.

Like Jesse said, wddr-###, cddr, etc. are attribution codes from the experts like Wexler, Crawford, CONEX, etc. for some of the coins FOUND in the boxes (maybe). Follow the link he sent you to Wexler...

My boxes look just like those pictured. These WDDR codes mentioned earlier in the thread I can't find on the boxes. >>
The only way you will ever see those codes (WDDR-xxx) are if you buy a single coin slabbed by ANACS (or other TPG) or OPEN the US Mint boxes, search the rolls, find a single coin that matches a WDDR designation on the Wexler website (link above), put it in a 2x2 holder and then write on the holder what WDDR it is that you found. Those "codes" are something that are "attributed" to coins, not boxes and definetly not by the us mint. I sure hope that clarifies it.

Where do these date codes appear? I have a few of the white LP2 boxes but I don't see any codes like this on the boxes. Thanks.

All US Mint boxes containing rolls since as long as I can remember, before 2005, have lots of printing on them. They are on one end. They have the US Mint item number, date, time packaged, and Lot number.
The "codes" WDDR-001, and the like, are what the coins are attributed if you find them.. They are varieties of specific coins w/ errors. Take a look here for explination
Example of US Mint box printing (not my auction)

Thanks!
It's the WDDR 002 and the like codes which I can't find.
My boxes look just like those pictured. These WDDR codes mentioned earlier in the thread I can't find on the boxes.

Thats odd, I never saw a box that didn't have a date & code stamped beside the bar code.
