My brief Baltimore report...

Wrote this on the plane yesterday, have some to add but need to get busy on other stuff....

With a 6 or so hour flight home, might as well write a show report. I arrived in Baltimore Weds evening in order to be nice and rested for the show. Got to the show early Thurs and was able to set up quickly. In this case the same day dealer set up worked very well for me. I was setup before Charmy got to the bourse and then we got her set up. I wondered the floor a little bit knowing once I got busy on photos I would likely not see the floor again. Saw some nice stuff but only bought one coin, a rather common DMPL that was an upgrade. After the bourse opened I was hit with plenty of coins to photograph. This being my first East coast show to do imaging I was able to meet several forum members for the first time, I am guessing about 25 members. All very nice folks. The members that came by had some amazing coins to share. I will let them talk about their coins but it is always great having show and tell sessions with others.

Charmy fired me on many several occasions, but I think I even managed to be rehired once or twice.

For attendance Thurs seemd a little slow. Friday was the opposite and was busy. As far as the table I was at with Charmy, I had a good show and I am pretty sure she did also. She flew back Sat evening to do a local southern Cal show today so I assume she is to tired to post right now.

I thought Whitman put on a very good show. Staff coming around to ask how things were was a nice touch. I ate convention center food twice for lunch and though expectedly pricey it was very good. Even the crab cakes one day seemed very good.

The bourse did start to clear out fast on Sat afternoon. By the time I left around 5ish there were many dealers already gone. With an optional Sunday this was expected.

I had a nice surprise at the airport when I was able to get my checked bag with my copystand close to 50lbs and avoid the $50 fee. On the way out is was over 58lbs.
All in all it was a very good show and I look forward to returning to it.

Yes, I am very tired, still recovering from both shows with lots of catching up to do! But I agree with Todd, Thursday was slow but Friday picked up and we were both busy for most of the rest of the show. I did fire Todd a couple times, you know, that insubordination thing! But I quickly rehired him when I showed up Friday morning and he had my table all unwrapped and ready to go! Wow, most of the other guys that work with me usually just go shopping and forget about getting the table ready in the morning if they get there before me (which isn't hard to do!). So it was a real treat to have the table cloth unzipped, chairs set up, the lights on, and everything all set up!

Starting on Friday, Todd was shooting coin photos pretty much non-stop. I don't think he left the table for more than a few minutes at a time. He had already lined up several groups of coins to photograph, and then he had several forum members stop by and drop off even more coins. It was really great meeting all the people we see post here on the forum, putting the faces with the user names and avatars. Having Todd work at my table was very helpful to me, so if I needed to run an errand or try to find a specific coin, he was always at the table to help anyone who stopped by. The show was very successful for both of us, and I think having Todd at my table worked well for both of us.

And for Todd at least, his work has only just begun. I'm sure everyone is probably as anxious as me to get their photos so we can post all our newps, but I think Todd took close to 1000 photos at the show, including quite a few of my coins, so I know he'll be working pretty feverishly getting them finished for everyone. One of the highlights of the show was when Todd was asked to photograph the most beautiful Matte Proof Lincoln I've ever seen, and probably that most everyone else has ever seen. It's a 1909 vdb and graded PF68 RB. There are a couple threads on this coins already, but WOW - this coin is truly a stunner and I was honored just to be able to hold it and view it personally.

Thanks for the update. Glad you were very busy! Will you be doing future Baltimore shows or Phila?

I dropped off my coins thinking it would take much longer than it did. Not only did he listen to how I wanted then set up he seemed to want to understand the series and why I was looking for what I wanted. Todd was a class act and I can't wait to see the finished product, he already exceeded my expectations once I am sure it will be even better the second go around when they are delivered.

well, in my defense, "on time" is a relative term. I was there well before the show opened to the public which to me is plenty "on time"! If some people choose to come in "early" and smooze around with other dealers, ahem, then I guess they didn't have as good of time the night before as, well errr, perhaps I did!

Yea some people just show up whenever....

The DMPL I bought was an 1889-P, common but looks nice and I only had a PL. The Larry (PQPeace) has me hooked on a 1882-CC 65DMPL I found at his case right at the tail end of the show. I cant count that one as a purchase yet but I am pretty sure I will soon.
