Seller sells the same card 3 months ina row to the same buyer....

I VCP a 61 Kaline All star card PSA 9 to get a guage on a price. I notice that the seller has sold the exact same card to the same person in Dec, Jan, and again in Feb. I save the auction to see who leaves feedback to get an ID on the buyer but no dice. I would link the VCP page but I havent graduated computer school yet. I find it hard to believe that the same guy sells the same card three months in a row to the same seller. VCP should strike those three auctions to show the true market valueof the card......

    The same 'buyer' did not win it 3 times.

    I was under the impression Kris Keppler was in cahoots with this seller.




    FWIW this seller has been on my 'do not buy from list' for quite some time.

    It is hard to believe that the same seller bought the exact same card with the same Cert# 3 months in a row.

    Something glaringly fishy going on with this, but just can't figure it out.

    Why would they even do that?

    This is SO sad. Unfortunately, this is a growing trend with ebay and some are very hard to determine.

    Not sure what you guys are talking about.

    The seller (Sportscardinvestmentpros) sold the card 3 times.

    The first 2 times he sold it to the same person.......ok that is shady.

    The 3rd time Keppler bought it.

    The seller bought it 1x (I assume) but sold it 3 times, 2 times to the same person.

    On the 3rd sale someone else (keppler bought it)

    Or am I misunderstanding what happened here?

    Now if the original seller sells it again then we have a problem.

    This seems to me like he was bidding on his own auctions to hike up the price. The third time someone just outbid his alt. He was probably losing money with fees every time he had to relist it due to his goal price not being met and lowered his alt bids.

    EDIT: Pretty standard example of shill bidding.

    Even that is shady. Lets give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he really did have 6 different PSA9 1961 Kalines and sold 3 of them on Ebay. If he used the same picture to sell all 3, then that is a misleading seller who none of you should trust. Not everyone buying that card is a registry monkey just buying the 9 grade, they'd actually want to see the characteristics of the specific card they're buying.

Quit trying to make up excuses and call this what it is. I seriously doubt the seller had 6 Kalines in a 9 and used the same scan.     A lot of sellers claim to use the same scan. IMO if they do this they should remove the number and barcode.

    Exactly where did I make up excuses for this guy?

    I never said anything about him having 6 kalines in 9 (that was said later)

    I said earlier the guy was shady.

    I think you need to re read what I said.


    I did call it what it is, I simply looked at the three auction links that were provided and saw that you were wrong

    the same buyer did not buy the kaline 3 times, he bought it 2x ( I said it was shady, I also said if the seller sells it again then

    we have a bigger problem. Exactly how is that dumb?

    So I'll ask again what am I missing?

    He did not sell it 3 times to the same seller like you claimed in your OP.

    That makes no sense.

    probably is BS, but he could own half of them. Right now I own the majority of graded 1981 OPC Gretzky stickers because I found a hoard (100+) of them from a baseball card shop that didn't know what they had.

    It's a 42 pop card in PSA 9 so it's probably a common card found in wholesale lots from other dealers.

    well he sold 3 of his 6 - one each in dec/jan/feb.

    I'll be looking for his March one to come up in auction.

    now that he finally found a legit buyer on the one he had I doubt we'll be seeing any more of this card from this seller

    Afternoon,

    This clown has been on my "Do Not Buy From Ever" list for 26 months (I date all of them as they go on), unfortunitly this was only 6 months or so into my list, so at that time I was not keeping track of Why he went on the list (I do now). And with 300+ on the list I can't remember the specifics of the Charter Members!!!!!!!

    I think the seller is full of crap. Here's why:

    1) cert 14783001 is pictured.
    2) cert 14783000 is the another one just like above. So he has 2 psa 9's of that card.
    3) viewing 9 certs above and below these numbers show a bunch of 59 to 62 issues - none of the card above.

    based on that, if he had 6 they should have shown up in order just like the two I've shown. They aren't there. Why would he list them other than next to each other in the submittal process?

    circumstancial to be sure but I think he's full of crap.

    Clarification for the SABR posters above.

    Al Kaline of course is not a common player, but a pop 42 PSA 9 1961 Kaline All Star is a common card. Almost all serious retail buyers already have one so when a dealer sifts through slow moving inventory to wholesale a group to another dealer, a card like Kaline would commonly be found. If you're a dealer buying groups like this certain cards will start piling up.

    Can I add that I have bought items from this guy on 2-3 occasions and all of them have been DRASTICALLY below VCP. So, my question is, if this guy shill bids why is he not shill bidding every auction?

    I can't find the records further then that but he is obviously a horrible seller because he loses money on everything I purchase!

    The only problem with that theory is that it is a high numbered card from a set where high numbers are notably tough.

    Especially in high grade, a quick look at the other All Stars show that many have similar pops.

    I doubt very much that any dealer will have these cards in a wholesale bin. Bob Friend maybe. Kaline, no.
