That being said would anyone care to give a grade on this peace dollar I think I just ate. Ouch Ouch Ouch. Avertised as flawless, MS+++ Etc. No returns of coarse. Stupid Me. Live and Learn. No matter that the seller stated "No returns".

You still can get your money back because it is definitely NOT as described.

Contact ebay first then if need be, contact PayPal.

You will get a refund whether the seller likes it or not!

Yeah that coins a pos, I would demand a refund. And you should out the seller, so we all can avoid auctions from them.

Study the mintmark area and make sure that it is not a 1928-S with a mintmark removed. When a coin is messed up that badly, I get a little suspicious that it was done intentionally to hide something like a removed mintmark.

Like others have said, that coin is bad news.

Many of us have done the same kind of thing when getting started, make sure you learn the lesson now. I know I did.

    Good luck in the refund.

Since it's not slabbed, what's to keep the seller from saying that this wasn't the coin he sold? How can you prove it is the same. Hopefully you have pics other than the set you posted to prove it's the same coin.
  • gripgrip Posts: 9,962 ✭✭✭✭✭

Recent bad feedback saying he shipped different coins, buying a raw coin off ebay from a seller called "lets roll a few", going off what looks to be a stock photo. What made you trust this guy?image------------------BigE

You got robbed - I'd file a claim no matter the effort it takes. Their feedback is speaking loud and it appears they have a bidder working with them.

You have been defrauded, that's not the same coin for sure.
If you used a credit card you have recourse, if there is a problem with the SNAD claim(there shouldn't be)

First of Welcome to the forum!

My hat is off to you Nemo! I would, no I did not, start my collection with a MS state
Key Date coin. (at least it was described as such).
Perhaps you are not new to collecting. Regardless that was a good buy off ebay, just
    went wrong.
You may want to ask the seller if he sent the wrong coin as the one you have does not
meet the description in any way shape or form. Be nice, don't call names or threaten
as Ebay will read your communications when you have to file a NOT AS DECRIBED claim.

If you looked at his feedback and read a few you may have gotten a clue that he was
not of a full deck. This may be in your favor as two negatives address this exact problem.
(did not read your post about his 100% feedback).

So, be nice to ebay, paypal and the seller and you'll get your money back. Just make sure
you point out the obvious scam that he's trying to pull off.

    Regardless, welcome and good luck!

NEVER buy anything from a seller with a handle of: letsrollafew image

He probably smoked a few that he just rolled before writing the description of this coin. image

MS63?? the seller must have been in an altered state of conscienceness.
  • Tell them you want to return it, no, call the BBB, nothing, spread it with the pics over the internet. I may even go as far par dor an ad in coin world with a pic, item description and company. Make sure you get a repected grading compabies opinion. This has got to stop and as long as this happens to newbies and others it never will. ANA, PNG and so on memberships or lack of seem to do nothing.

  • << <i>Auction Link >>

If that's the auction link that seriously does not appear to be the same coin and you appear to have been the victim of a cruel bait and switch job. I sincerely hope you find some recourse.
  • Let me add a precaution. Steer clear of them when they can't communicate any better than in run-on sentences like this...

HERE WE HAVE UP FOR AUCTION A 1928 PEACE DOLLAR THIS COIN IS BEAUTIFUL LOTS OF LUSTER WOULD GRADE VERY HIGH THE PICTURES LOOK GOOD BUT DOESNT DO THIS COIN JUSTICE HAPPY BIDDING AND GOODLUCK THANKS.WILL SHIP WITH INSURANCE ADDED THIS COIN IN MY JUDGEMENT WOULD GRADE IN THE MID MS RANGE ITS A RARE ONE.IM NOT A PRO JUDGER BUT THIS IS THE BEST ONE IVE SEEN BEEN IN THE COIN BUSINESS ALONG TIME KNOW A GOOD ONE WHEN I SEE IT.

On Feb-20-10 at 20:15:29 PST, seller added the following information:
THE CONDITION THIS COIN IS IN WOULD PUT THIS COIN IN THE HIGH MS RANGE ON GRADE IM NOT A PROFESSIONAL BUT I KNOW THIS IS FLAWLESS AND BY THE 2010 GRADING BOOK ITS IN THAT RANGE SO IN MY OPINION MS-63+++

If that is the auction, then you did not get the coin you bid on and eBay should protect you. Open the case asap. Let us know resolution.
  • You Folks have been terrific in your input and help. I’m not a talkative kind of person on the computer. My spelling is probably the main reason. Grammar follows close behind. So I run everything thru a word processor before I post. Technology can even make me seam somewhat literate. I’m a little lexdixik, and have a hint of DDA. Where was I, Oh Ya, Anyway I took everyone’s advice and opened a claim with E-Bay and Pay-Pal. As far as the coin switch thing, NOT. But good point! My word against His? Hell of a scam. But that is not my style. I’m straight up, that’s my style. I’ll let you know the outcome as some members have requested. I will not wait 7 years to post again I promise. NEMO

    Good for you! image

Look at the listing. Right in the middle of the page is an emblem referencing ebay's Buyer Protection Plan.

Since he (or she) went out on a limb and made the claims he did, plain & simple the item is NOT as described.

Should be no problem, especially with the pictures you've taken of what was actually sent.

It's unfortunate that many sellers see eBay as a venue to dump undesirables on the unsuspecting.

    Good Luck! image
  • Please return the item to the seller.
Once we have delivery and signature confirmation that the item has been
delivered, we'll refund you for the cost of the item plus original
    shipping within 3 days .

Cripes! What a loser. letsrollafew has rolled a few too many.

You'll win this and get your money back. And the lesson learned will not be soon forgotten.

A lot of guys on this forum know the tricks to buying raw. Until you learn them don't spend big money on anything not in a legitimate TPG slab.
