Help identifying European medal

A recent acquisition from Europe, with some nice color on it. But I have no idea of any history associated with it. Can anyone identify this medal or any information about it?

The medal is 50mm in diameter, with a smooth edge. There are no visible markings as to the composition or artist.
Many thanks!

My photos aren't the best yet, so the lighting isn't quite right to fully capture the colors on this piece. There's just a touch of a bright yellow in the trees which isn't really showing right in the photo, and the orientation I had on the light seems to have put the features of the horse's head into shadow... oh well... I'll play with that some more.
Honestly, I've looked over the whole design with a loupe, and I can find no hidden markings at all.
The composition appears to be a copper or copper-alloy. The edge is smooth.
I acquire the medal from a dealer in France, and his only information was that the smooth edge is indicative of a pre-1832 strike.
