Baseball card stores in malls..back then

When i first got into collecting cards 30 years ago, there was a crafts store in my local mall that sold a ton of old baseball cards. It was 1980-81. Many cards were in a huge glass case with a rotating switch. And behind the glass case there was a huge storage locker full of sets from the 50's, 60,s and 70's. Oh how i miss those days.

I remember those stores as well. We had one of those and a comic shop in a mall close to my work.

I figured the lost foot traffic and the huge lease costs were a death sentence for these spots. In fact a few malls close by have lost so many other retail stores as well.

I miss that too. There was a toy and craft store in a mall I used to go to when I was a kid (early to mid 80s) and they had the binder with sheets in it under the glass case. You had to ask them to pull it out and then you could survey the whole thing with the sticker prices on the sheets and tell them what you wanted. It was mostly 70s stuff and I always wanted the whole book.

With ebay around why pay Retail prices?? Also thrift stores and yard sales you can find a lot of new stuff for pennies... I haven't shopped in a Mall in two years
