So how far does the permission from the wife go? For example, I'm pretty sure Tiger Woods exceeded the permission that his wife had granted. In this case, there may be a limit set on NEWPS. In that is the situation, then I'd say, "it's easier to beg forgiveness than to ask permission." Or backdate the purchase as a layaway so that it looks like you're just picking up something you already bought. I wonder if that could get around the sales tax issue there.
