How long would it take before you got concerned about not getting your coins back from a TPG?

How long would it take before you got concerned about not getting your coins back from a TPG service? The maximium time from submission to not seeing them graded?

I seldom check PM's but do check emails often jason@seated.org

  • If truth be told... I have been known to start stressing as I am walking away from the USPS counter, right after mailing off the submission... really... imageimage
Re: Slabbed coins - There are some coins that LIVE within clear plastic and wear their labels with pride... while there are others that HIDE behind scratched plastic and are simply dragged along by a label. Then there are those coins that simply hang out, naked and free image
  • Depends on the tier or reason why you sent the coins in. For instance, Spot Removal has been known to take an extended amount of time.

I waited 2 1/2 months on a spot review. I got it back in just under 4 months.

I would wait a couple of days AFTER the grading tier time limit, then I would start calling.

In January, I sent an Express submission w/variety attribution which was mailed on 1/16 and received and entered on 1/19. Grades had not posted by 2/2 (5 days grading + 5 days attribution) so I called. Grades posted on 2/5.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I don't understand why it would take nine days for my package to reach NGC. I would start to really worry if my coins did not return to me in THREE MONTHS.

It truly depends on the service level and time of year.

Economy submissions have taken up to 60 days for me in the past. I have had a couple of bulk submissions take closer to 3 months.

Currently, depending on the service level I would say 4-6 weeks seems to be the time for anything but bulk submissions.
