    1) carved in with a sharp tool
    or
    2) stamped in with somewhat professional looking lettering?

    1) grafitti
    2) counterstamped

I'll lets others who know more advise on collectibility

Search the forum for "Cheerios dollar" for pictures of what your Sac could be. If it's not a Cheerios dollar then it's worth a buck.

If the quarter is counterstamped then it would sell for more than it's face value. How much more depends on being able to find the right buyer.

    Welcome aboard.

Just like cards condition is exceedingly important to value and this especially applies
to something like a very common 2000 sac. Of course it's worth a lot even in lousy
condition if it's one of the prototypes used by Cheerios.

The quarter would have some nominal value if the engraving is something that was
done on a mass scale and is identifiable as such. I've never heard of this one though.
If it could be doine by just anyone then it's considered damage and has no value.

The quarter appears to be counterstamped.

Need better pics of your dollar if you're not able to figure it out based on tahoe's link. It is highly unlikely that you have a Cheerios dollar but that's what makes 'em worth so much to begin with.
