Help w/ labeling/identifying a 1998 Leaf Baseball Derek Jeter card (FIXED)

Hello - I need a little help here. I am trying to identify this card.

*Note the PSA label I believe is incorrect. When I busted the 98 leaf box open back in 1998 I also had a recent beckett mag. which labeled this card as 1998 leaf Fractal Matrix (Bronze or Gold?)

Here is an example I found of a 1998 Leaf Fractal Materials card

Here is an example I found of a 1998 Leaf Fractal Matrix Gold card Note this also is a mislabel it is not a gold card

What do you think?

  • Fractal Matrix it is, there are no Bronze or Gold variations, only one Fractal Matrix for each player, not including the multitude of die cut parallels. But yeah, PSA mislabeled that one.

    Ok thanks for your input.

Does anyone know how do I go about getting the correct label on this card I had graded almost a year ago?

I believe that's considered a mechanical error. Just note the error on a submission form and I think PSA will fix it for you for no charge. But I've never done it so I could be wrong. Your best bet is to contact customer service and have them tell you what to do.

I did more research talked to a few local shops. I also bought a beckett which confirms there are Gold, Silver, and Bronze variations on all fractal matrix cards. This is a Fractal Matrix card. However its neither gold or bronze. Also the example pic i put is not gold either.

I also called PSA and Priscilla was very very very helpful I have to do this...

    · Please fill out a PSA submission form, mark "Other" as the service level, write in "Mechanical Error" and include a short note on the form.

    · If you are not a Collectors Club member, please provide me your address and I will send you a submission form.

    · Please keep the problem card(s) on a separate submission form if you will be sending other cards as well.

    · Please make sure the submission form and the outside of the shipping box has “Mech. Error" clearly and LARGELY written somewhere on it.

    · You will still need to write in the Declared Value(s).

    · Once your order is entered, please call or email Customer Service and let us know that you sent in a mechanical error submission so we can issue you a voucher to compensate you for having to ship the card back to us.

I plan on sending this in tomorrow we will see what comes back image

  • Congrats on getting it fixed.

I worded my previous post poorly. There are no color variations for each player. While there are bronze, silver, and golds throughout the set no one individual card will be found with all three color variants. The Jeter is probably a Gold since it is a Leaf Gold Star subset.

I am super stoked to have this card correctly labeled. Thank you everyone for your help. I am also super stoked at the wonderful service from PSA. Now the waiting game on having it added to the Derek Jeter master set registry image
