1927 Buffalo newp...

Here's a nice Buffalo I just picked up recently. I think it has an above average planchet and strike with almost blemish free surfaces on the obverse. There is some flatness on the Buffalos hip bone, but I think it's from an incomplete strike as there is no break in the luster. What do you think the grade might be? Thanks for looking....Joe

Haven't a clue to the grade as I'm not a Buffernick kind of a guy, but I think that it is quite an attractive looking coin. image

  • I like the look, but my grade estimate would have to be nothing more than a 64. The obverse looks nice but there is a lot going on with the reverse. Personally I would say MS63.

I won't venture a grade but there seems to be a lot of contact marks for a mint state coin.
Even taking the huge pics into account.

There I said it now you can tell me it's in a 65 holder. image

    Me agrees wirh Shamika.......64.

Nice split tail, but shallow strike in the center both obverse and reverse.

As always thanks for all the help, I also think it's a 64 and original. I got a more than fair deal on this mid 20s Buffalo nickel, most don't look this nice and are becoming harder to find in mint state condition uncleaned.

Cape is tough but knows Buffalos -- I would have guessed 64 but there are a lot of marks on the reverse and the strike is a bit soft in the centers. Your photography is excellent, by the way, although it may be a bit out of focus in places here.

Good luck if you're sending it in.
