Freeman 32 on Ebay

Wow!!image

I have been watching a British penny (1861 F32 graded VF by the seller) on the bay. It just closed for $1675. I know it is a rare variety, but ZOWIE.

Wowza. Penny collecting has gotten insane. It was not even advertised as such, so there are a lot of alert folks out there.

I sure hope the halfpenny series goes moonbound some day. They are quite a bit rarer than the pennies as a whole.

I am not sure what to make of it- it would be nice at a time like this to know who the bidders were

I bet the seller had no idea what he had and is probably in pleasant shock.

That's my guess too. He most likely thought he had a $20 coin.

I wonder if the seller had listed it as a F32 if it would have made quite as much?

Perhaps the bidders got a bit carried away with making and trying to win an un-attributed "find".
